Does change scare you? I would never have said that it does me, but I'm not so sure now? Actually I don't think I'm 'scared' of it but changes definitely fall into 'good' and 'bad' categories. Case in point, Radio One's line up changes = bad :( My daily listening routine's just not the same, I miss Jo Whiley! Ferne Cotton is a nice enough girl but I just can't get into it? What to do?
I've always listened to Radio One, from when we were little and my Dad wrote in (yes, in those days you had to put pen to paper not finger to button to make things happen) and had a birthday request done for my sister. Me & Rach would 'tape' our favourite songs off the charts on a Sunday evening and play our personal compilations till the tapes wore out. Those cassettes were ace, and even now when I hear some songs I expect to hear a snippet of Mark Goodyear's voice telling us it's chart position. Ooh, I'm beginning to feel all misty eyed now, but now realise where my fondness of making compilations for people comes from.
But back to 'bad' changes. My list of lost DJ's would have to be... Simon Mayo, Zoe Ball, Sara Cox, Mark and Lard and now Jo Whiley. I know they're on different stations and shows at different times but it's when they disappear from your little routine it is a bit of a bummer! I'm a creature of habit. Anyway, once upon a time when I used to write and ring in to my favourite shows for competitions and the like (my signed Basement Jaxx vinyl I won from Coxy is a prized possession) I sent in my 'soundtrack of my life' to Jo W, and it was chosen, a song played from it each day for a week. I've never felt so famous!
So I'm sharing it again, in a 'high-tech' manner my soundtrack as it stood in about 2002 I think. It's called 'It's All Bisto' because at the time my mate Natty's favourite expression was "it's all gravy" and at the time my life was pretty perfect and "all gravy". If you fancy doing your own then do it on 8tracks and post the link below.
Wow, has that 'review' (in the loosest sense!) knocked your socks off? There's plenty more where that came from, browse our articles by genre...
