Hello, better late than never right? I went to my first gig in ages last week, it still makes me cross to think that I 'forgot' and therefore missed the Florence gig a few months ago! But stepping back into the sticky carpet breach felt good and who better than the Groove Armada boys to put a spring in your step.

It was a funny night, I'd got a chest infection so couldn't really talk/shout/sing without having a coughing fit nor could I dance/jump/jig without the same outcome. I couldn't even do my fingers in mouth whistle - no way! So I was resigned to an evening of gentle swaying and watching other people 'getting down'. I was shocked to see a bloke rocking the 'jeans so low you can see all of my pants' look - sans le pants! That's just nasty.

I don't know who supported them as we were late, but the two vocalists who performed with GA were brilliant. The girl in particular had a really good voice and more energy and better moves than any aerobics instructor I've ever seen. I will try and find out who she was. They played a mix of new and old, the new stuff sounding great live and if you haven't got Black Light yet it's def worth buying, there are some choons on it.

Highlight of the night had to be Superstylin', the place erupted when that baseline dropped, it's moments like that that make gigs sooo great! Low-light of the night was encountering a dead cat in the middle of the road on the way home, it would have been hit again where it was so we stopped and brave Rach picked it up and put it on the pavement. Good deed done, though I was worried if someone saw us they'd have thought it was me that had hit it!

Wow, has that 'review' (in the loosest sense!) knocked your socks off? There's plenty more where that came from, browse our articles by genre...
